The Program
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has established a
scholarship program to help finance higher education for children
of its
members. The program is independently managed by Scholarship
America, a national nonprofit educational support and student aid
service organization. Awards are given without regard to race,
color, creed, religion, sex, disability, or national origin.
Eligibility
Applicants must be children of national members of SHRM.
Applicants may be either high school seniors, high school
graduates or first-year college undergraduates enrolled or
planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited
four-year college or university.
Scholarship Awards
Awards are $1,500 each and may only be used for the first or
second year of undergraduate study only. A total of twenty-four
(24) scholarships
are awarded annually.
Application
Students must complete the application and mail it along with a
complete high school or college transcript of grades to
Scholarship America, postmarked no later than May 15. Applicants
are solely responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary
information. All information submitted is confidential and will be
reviewed only by Scholarship America personnel.

Regional Scholarships
|
The SHRM Foundation will award a total of $100,000 in scholarships to
national SHRM members, chapters and state councils in 2008.
Applications are now being accepted for the following scholarships.
Deadline to apply: July 15, 2008.
60 Certification Scholarships of $750 each
40 Academic Scholarships of $1375 each
The scholarships are awarded through the local SHRM regions.
Applications will be judged in the following five groups:
- Northeast Region
- Southeast Region (and former Caribbean Atlantic Region)
- North Central Region
- Southwest Central Region
- Pacific West Region (and former Asia Pacific Region)

Each group has a total of $20,000 to distribute in scholarships annually
which guarantees that there will be scholarship winners in every region.
Twelve certification scholarships of $750 each and eight academic
scholarships of $1375 each will be presented in each group.
Eligibility
All national SHRM members pursuing a college degree in human resources or working towards SPHR, GPHR or PHR certification are eligible to
apply. (Note: SHRM professional, general or associate members may apply; however student members and local-only members of chapters are not
eligible for this scholarship program.) In addition, chapters and state councils are eligible to compete for the scholarship money to fund
programs that promote SPHR, GPHR or PHR certification locally.
July 15, 2008: Postmark deadline for applications.

About the Scholarship
A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to an SHRM-ECC member, a family member of SHRM-ECC, a SHRM National Member or a student of Human Resources seeking a membership with SHRM-ECC.
Scholarship Amount
$500, one-year scholarship
Eligibility
- Be a student at an accredited college or university
- Have declared a major in Human Resources Management or in Business
Administration with an emphasis in HR.
- Be a member of SHRM-ECC, SHRM National, a family member to an SHRM-ECC member or a membership applicant for
SHRM-ECC.

Selection of Scholarship Winner
The recipient will be selected by the SHRM-ECC Board on the basis of a proven interest in Human Resources and a career in the field or related field.
Application Procedures
The following must be submitted to apply for the SHRM-ECC Scholarship:
· A completed application form
· A current resume
· Two letters of recommendation
To be considered for a scholarship, applications must be received no later than
July 1, 2008. Presentation of the scholarship will be made at
an upcoming SHRM-ECC general meeting.
