Dr. Christine Pierce appointed Fort Walton Beach interim
Director Pierce succeeds Dr. Dianne Barlar, and she will hold the interim position for the 2003-04 academic year. She has been the associate director of the Haas Center, and she has worked at the Fort Walton Beach campus for four years. In addition to being the interim director, Pierce will assist with government relations in Okaloosa and Walton Counties and with advocacy efforts in Washington, DC.
“Chris’ deep knowledge of the campus and its programs, along with her very strong community connections, will enable us to advance our agenda in Okaloosa and Walton Counties,” said Cavanaugh. “Her work with defense-related projects in the Haas Center also positions her well to help UWF in seeking resources from the federal government in Washington.”
