The President's Corner
As President of SHRM/ECC, I look forward to serving the membership and to the continued growth of the organization in 2000.

Under the leadership of Jim Miller in 1999, we accomplished our goals to provide a forum for HR Professional Development for chapter members and guests; to financially support the SHRM foundation; to provide funding to

support Board members to attend SHRM sponsored activities; to increase awareness of Diversity issues; to provide a variety of interesting programs for members and guests; to develop a budget to assist in chapter resource management; maintain National affiliation requirements; and to continue our MERIT AWARD STATUS.

A Note from the Board
SHRM/ECC members, it is with deep regret that we inform you of the loss of one of our friends and fellow members.

Gale Bass passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2000, after a short battle with cancer.

Gale was the Branch Manager of Manpower Services and was President of SHRM/ECC in 1989.

Our past presidents were honored at our December 1999, General Meeting and Gale was there to receive recognition for her service to the organization.
As a tribute to Gale, the Executive Board has voted to name our Scholarship Award the "Gale Bass Scholarship Award."  Additionally, SHRM/ECC will be lighting a luminary in memory of Gale at the American Cancer Society's Emerald Coast Relay for Life.

The Relay for Life begins on May 5th at Etherage Stadium.  The candle lighting ceremony will be held at 9:00 p.m.  We hope you can join us there to pay honor to a friend and colleague who will truly be missed.
