City of Fort Walton Beach - HR Director

The City of Fort Walton Beach located in Okaloosa County is seeking an experienced professional to serve in the capacity of Human Resources Director. The Human Resources Director exercises independent judgment and initiative under the direction of and reports to the City Manager. 

This is a department director position involving highly responsible administrative and technical work in planning, organizing and directing the city's Human Resources, Risk Management, labor relations, employee benefits, insurance, safety and training programs. Duties include, but are not limited to: Negotiation of labor agreements with two unions (Police and Fire); recruitment/selection; testing; evaluations; review and assistance in disciplinary actions; evaluation and recommendation of the city's human resources policies and employee benefits. 

The Human Resources Director conducts salary and fringe benefit surveys and proposes and analyzes pay plan revisions; manages the administration of the city’s risk management responsibilities including evaluation and administration of unemployment compensation, property damage claims, group medical, dental and life insurance, workers’ compensation, general liability claims and property insurance. 

Desirable experience and training: 
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business or public administration, or related field is required. Master’s degree and/or PHR certification is preferred. At least five years experience of a progressively responsible nature (preferably in the public sector) in human resources management or labor relations – the majority of which must be in a managerial capacity. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may also be considered. 

Salary range:

Okaloosa County Commissioners - HR Manager

Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners is now accepting applications for the position of Human Resources Manager. In coordination with the HR Director, manages and coordinates the operation and activities of the HR Department.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or closely related field; and:
  • Minimum of six (6) years progressively responsible experience in the human resources field, to include a minimum of two (2) years in a management or supervisory role, preferably for a local government organization; or 
  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 
  • Must be computer literate.

Simple HR a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) located in Destin is seeking a full-time Payroll/HR Professional to join our team. The position is responsible for providing customer-focused payroll administration. Payroll processing and employee data administration are the main functions of this position. 

Job functions include:
Process Client payrolls in a timely and accurate manner
Prepare, review and distribute invoices
Administer the day-to-day activities of client payroll to ensure employee information is updated in the system in an accurate and timely fashion
Provide Client Customer support as well as all departments of Simple HR 
Ability to handle high volume of calls while maintaining a professional attitude. 
Contact various Client Contacts for any missed paperwork, approvals and hours not reported timely
Maintain the integrity of the Payroll filing system, promptly processing employee data such as, new hired employees, changes and terminated employees etc.
Research and solve payroll discrepancies 

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus six month experience of training in payroll procedures, FPC highly desirable. Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines, while working in a fast pace environment in a timely manner. Requires excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask. Ability to produce quality and accurate work under pressure. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to maintain confidential information and work with a diverse group of people.
